Dear Friends and Supporters,

On June 20th, 2019, the Canadian Society of Ukrainians from former Yugoslavia will host a presentation of the book “In the Life of a Refugee “written by Luba Sudak who, as an 18-year-old girl, dared to venture out to an unknown world in a search of a better life.

 June 20th is the World Refugee Day and on this day the world will commemorate the strength, courage, and perseverance of millions of refugees. We are inviting you to hear the story of one of them, Luba Sudak.

As a result of the conflict in the Balkans, in 1990 many people left the countries of the former Yugoslavia to seek refuge abroad. Among them were Ukrainians from the northwestern Bosnia who at that time immigrated to Canada. Their difficult path has been described in Luba’s book “In the Life of a Refugee “of which she was a part of. 

Presentation of the book is co-sponsored by Alberta Foundation for Ukrainian Education Society, League of Ukrainian Canadians, Edmonton Brunch and Ukrainian Canadian Professional and Business Association.
